If you get excited about the thought of making an incredible town even more remarkable, We are seeking for you. The Town of Ladysmith is seeking casual Facilities Maintenance Worker I’s to join the maintenance department in our Parks, Recreation & Culture division.

The Town of Ladysmith is a vibrant community nestled on the eastern shores of spectacular Vancouver Island. With a population of approximately 8,900 people, the community provides an inviting small town atmosphere and yet, is only a short commute to all the amenities of a major urban centre. Residents enjoy excellent community and recreational facilities, including year- round opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts.

Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance manager, this job offer is responsible for performing various mechanical readings and corresponding pool operation adjustments as well as a variety of facility maintenance and various repetitive cleaning tasks following well-established procedures in or around public buildings. The character of the work may dictate various shift patterns.

To be ready to succeed you will have completed Grade 12 or equivalent, and have demonstrated expertise of standard methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial care. The capability to obtain and maintain RCMP Enhanced Relicapability Status security clearance is required, in addition to the capability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Police Information with Vulnerable Sector check. Other licenses and certifications required are Pool Operator I Certification, a valid British Columbia class 5 drivers’ license, a current Occupational First Aid Level I certification, and a valid Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) certificate.
